How to Make Fresh Basil Pesto Without Nuts
I love pesto, but unfortunately, some of my family members are allergic to nuts and most store-bought pesto, or homemade pesto recipes have nuts in them, so I decided to make my own. Pesto is very easy to grow, and we have a lot in our garden especially during spring and summer. This fresh basil pesto without nuts recipe is so easy to make. The taste is great and perfect for any recipes.
How to Make Fresh Basil Pesto Without Nuts
Ingredients
1/3 cup parmesan (my container had a weight of 2.5 oz)
1 bunch basil
1/2 cup of cilantro
1/2 cup olive oil (start with 1/4 cup and work your way up)
3 cloves garlic
1-2 tsp lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Wash and pat dry basil leaves.
Pour 1/4 cup Olive Oil in bottom of blender.
Add in half of the basil leaves, cilantro, garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes.
Pulse the blender a few times.
Add the remaining basil leaves and olive oil.
Pulse the blender again.
You can also freeze this pesto.
Fill an ice cube tray with the basil pesto to freeze. This is about the perfect size for adding some flavor into recipes! After the pesto cubes are solid, place in a freezer bag and express as much air as possible.
I love how easy it is to make this fresh basil without nuts recipe, and it tastes amazing. I used this for my Baked Salmon with Pesto Recipe, and my family loves it!
