Chutzpah: Banking woes
ChutzpaChutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine.
chutzpah Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or confidence, but among Yiddish speakers, it is not a compliment.
I have had enough of banks that do not value customers. I have a huge problems with being able to do things online and not having them happen automatically. You see I transferred funds on Saturday and completed a transactions on Monday morning. I assumed the money was in the account since it was transferred on Saturday from my savings to my checking. That was not the case. I received $270 in fees on a $400 transfer. I called the bank to investigate.
I knew there wasn’t enough money so I transferred the money in prior to making the purchase. I was told that I did not make the cut off for the transfer to happen. I still do not understand when the cut off is or why since every other bank I have doesn’t have a cut off it is seamless. They agreed to refund $135. This is absurd. I went into the branch. I was told they can’t help and I need to call a number. I mean really the person in front of you can’t help but someone on a phone some where can?
I finally had to take to twitter to get some satisfaction. I tweeted the company that I was not happy. They direct messaged me a new number to call. I called and the took off another 50%. The lesson cost me $50 and it cost them a customer. I am in the process of moving my account to another bank. I was really surprised that I had to talk to three different people and none of them saw this as an issue with their system. I also was appalled that I had to to call, visit, and tweet to get close to what was the right thing to do.
1) Lesson here is tweet until you get some satisfaction.
2) Lesson two use banks like ING they actually value their customers and they paid me $50 to join.
