Summer Travel to the Big Apple

I am going to the BlogHer Conference in New York City and I’m so excited for this trip. I have been doing tons of research on what to do while I’m there. I’ve found restaurants, sightseeing tours, hotels, shops and pretty much everything you can imagine. It is a little overwhelming the number of sights to see while in New York City. I want to go to places the locals go, but I also want to visit the tourist sights.

I’ve stumbled upon some sightseeing tours while doing my research and it looks like most of the companies have numerous tours to choose from depending on which sights I want to see. They also have Hop on and Hop off tickets that let me get on and off the bus so I can walk around town and visit the local shops and venues. This seems like the best bang for my buck because I get off the bus when I want to see some of the city, then hop back on and go to the next place! I know that I want to visit the Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty and Times Square. I have a whole list of places I’d love to go on my trip, but we’ll see how many I can fit in during a few days.

The best deals I’ve found have been with the Double-Decker bus tours throughout the city. I can get a 24 hour, 48 hour or 72 hour bus ticket that I can use for sightseeing and I can get on and off anytime I choose so I can explore the city. The prices run from $39.00 to $99.00 depending on the length of the tour and what sites, if any, are included. This makes life so much easier, because it is one less thing I have to worry about. I can just buy my ticket, learn about the city from the bus drivers and start exploring on my own when I feel like getting off the bus!

I found some other great deals for you, if you are planning on a trip to New York City. Using Kayak.com, I compared the prices of multiple travel services and found my best price for the airline ticket. Kayak and Priceline were only $1 apart on the lowest price and both used the same carrier. When I did my search for hotels, there was a variety to choose from, depending on what area of town I wanted to stay. Using Hotels.com and Priceline I was able to find hotels in every price point from $119 to $300+. Both websites had a large selection of hotels to choose from, making the decision on where to stay is the hard part.

Okay, now you have an idea on where to stay and how to get to New York City. What else do you need? I always check out deal sites like Groupon and Living Social before I go anywhere because you can save loads of cash on just about anything. The example I found this morning was a deal from Broadway Nail & Spa in Greenwich Village for a Mani-Pedi for only $17! Super cheap and I can use it when I go to New York next month! I’ve already saved some money and I haven’t even gotten my bags packed yet.

Then I found brunch for two with two Bloody Marys or Mimosas for only $25 at the Ainsworth in Chelsea! Where are you going to find brunch for two in NY for that little?? The cost is normally $76 dollars, so I can buy the Groupon now and have brunch day while I’m there. The list of discounts is endless, but this gives you a start for planning your trip to NY City on the cheap!!
