Do you need sunscreen when skiing?
As I am I trying to warm up on this cold winter night, summer seems like a distant memory. I know though that it will roll around again soon enough and I will be desperately trying to find some relief from the heat. But while I am not sporting my flip flops just yet I am thinking about sunscreen. Why am I thinking about sunscreen? Because we are going skiing this weekend. Do you need sunscreen when skiing? YES! When you are on the slopes the sun is not only shining on you directly but it is also reflecting off the snow. This can cause sun burn very quickly if you are not applying sunscreen to any exposed skin. Many skiiers and snowboards never even think about the dangers of the sun when they are on the mountain but I have young kids and believe strongly in protecting their skin.
My kids like many others I am sure do NOT like it when I put sunscreen on them. I found sunscreen that smells like chocolate. I was hoping the chocolate aroma would make it easier to get on them to protect their faces from the harsh rays of the sun. The smell is really cool and it did make it a little easier to get my kids to cooperate with the sunscreen application. If our cheeks are rosy at the end of this trip it will be because we are happy and remembering the memories we made not because we have sunburn. Fun in the sun doesn’t just happen in the summer time. So remember to use sunscreen all year long but especially use sunscreen when skiing or snowboarding.
