The gift of education is a gift that will last a lifetime
Why dream about giving the gift of education when you can actually make it a reality? It is the time of year when you start thinking about what kind of gifts you would like to give people in your life to show them how much you care. While inevitably most kids would prefer a toy on Christmas morning, what most parents dream about is giving them the gift of a bright future. While it’s not as exciting to unwrap it, for as little as $47 a month you or loved one can give a child the gift of a debt free education. I think at this point we all realize how hard it is to go to school and not get into debt. We can help the next generation side step that debt right now by purchasing a prepaid college program for them.
Every year people ask me what my kids would like for Christmas. To be honest, they want a lot of junk. They want whatever commercials and toy books tell them they want. And honestly, they will probably get some of it. We try to stick to the saying: “One of what you want, one of what you need, something to wear, and something to read”. When it comes to gifts from relatives though, all bets are off. My children happen to be the only grandkids on both sides, so that means that a lot of gifts end up under the tree for them. A lot of the junk. Good junk, but junk nonetheless.
When my oldest child was born we took care of her Florida prepaid account right away. Unfortunately, with two more following right behind it was tougher to on top of it and life got in the way. It is one of those things that we always say we will “do next year”. My second child is entering kindergarten in the fall and time is flying by. So an idea we had for Christmas this year was to ask that everyone take the money that they were going to spend on the kids and put it towards their education. Specifically we are asking them to do one year of college for each of the kids. At $47 a month it is not a terribly hard thing to ask. If each one of them takes on one child for one year then the two youngest are covered for two years of University education. What better gift is there? Though it’s not as much fun to unwrap, the give the gift of a debt free education will mean so much more to them. And in the very near future they will realize how special it was that their family provided for them like this.
Here are the details of 1-Year Florida University Plan:
You can purchase one year, or 30 credit hours, at a time according to your budget and timeline, without feeling the pressure of having to buy all four years at once?o The plan also allows multiple purchasers to buy a plan for the same child. So now you can team up with other family members to help pay for your child’s higher education. For example, let Grandma and Grandpa buy one year and you purchase another. A child can have up to four 1-Year Florida University Plans. Like all of our plans, every cent of the value of this plan can be applied at any university or college nationwide and is guaranteed by the state of Florida. You cannot lose the money you put in.?
There are several other plans that may fit your child’s future education needs. Myself and several of the other writers here at Real Advice Gal have plans for our children and they are all customized as our children and family situations are different. Please visit the Florida prepaid website for more information on all of the different levels of prepaid plans available to you and your family. Open enrollment is only once a year and is going on now through February 28, 2017. Go here for more information.
