Crafting with Kids: The Heat Returns
Meet Stephanie! She’s a 24 year old stay at home Mom, who couldn’t ask for a better blessing than to be home with her daughter!! Their favorite things to do together is working on art projects and they enjoy sharing them with people at Crafting with Bug!! In her free time she enjoys reading and scrapbooking!!
Here in Wisconsin the miserable heat has returned. Unless we are at the pool there isn’t much we can comfortably be doing outside. My 2 year old daughter has yet to understand why we can’t be outside playing when the sun is shining.
Since we are back to being trapped inside I have been trying to find NEW ways to keep her entertained {That are totally different than what we did this past winter!). I’ve decided that this week we are going to do a balloon scavenger hunt!!!
This will be easy on my end and should be LOTS of fun on her end. Being 2 she won’t fully understand the idea of a scavenger hunt but I plan change it a bit so she can do it!
If your kids are old enough you can place little paper clues in each balloon {Be sure to number the balloons so they know they are going in order}. Place the balloons in creative places around the house and let them go. You can make the ‘big prize’ anything your kids will enjoy. Things like ‘dessert before dinner and ‘a day off of chores’ could be good! Be creative!
With the littler kids who can’t read yet you can place trinkets inside the balloons and place the balloons around the house. Once they find a balloon you can either let them pop it by themselves or if that isn’t an option you can give them a big bag to put them in and after all the balloons have been found take them in a different room and pop the balloons for them. Once the balloons are popped the trinkets are theirs! (You don’t need to go buy new trinkets for this to work…even little toys your little one already has can be fun for them to find!) Either way it is a new activity for them and the toys will seem like they are new too!!!
