Crafting with Kids: What Floats Their Boat
Meet Stephanie! She’s a 24 year old stay at home Mom, who couldn’t ask for a better blessing than to be home with her daughter!! Their favorite things to do together is working on art projects and they enjoy sharing them with people at Crafting with Bug!! In her free time she enjoys reading and scrapbooking!!
“My child has no interest in doing art projects…” I hear this phrase a lot…I follow it by “Have you tried to interest your child in it?” That is then followed by a blank stare…probably because they are wondering what I mean…Of course they have tried…hence they know their child isn’t interested in art…right? WRONG!!!
All kids are interested in some sort of art! Finding what ‘floats their boat’ is the trick!!!
Some kids enjoy messy things; others enjoy a more slowly paced clean setting.
The first thing you need to do is offer an art project to your child… “Would you like to do an art project with me?” This will probably be quickly turned down as they run off to do something else.
As the parent you should be okay with this but, inform them that you are going to have SO much fun doing the art project. This may take a few times of you doing the whole art project by yourself (while continually inviting them to join you) but hang in there…they will come around.
Be sure to show them the final project (proudly hung in your home) and tell them how much fun it was!
A big thing to remember is to not limit the offered projects to one type of project. A wide variety will help you figure out what ‘floats your child’s boat’!!!
