Good Hands for the Good Life: What’s Your Story?
This post brought to you by Allstate. All opinions are 100% mine.
Ten years ago, my husband and I made a big decision. We were frustrated with living in the city in which we both were raised and were looking for an escape. Originally, we contemplated buying a vacation home so we could just get away. However, in our search for a getaway, we realized it wasn’t the answer. In the end, we found a house in a small rural area outside my alma mater’s town. It was then we decided to make the move to the country.
We were done with the “rat race.” Our move was to a place where we had no family, friends, or business connections. Our friends all wondered what had gotten into us. Was it a mid-life crisis? What they saw was a couple with good jobs and three children leaving the place where they had settled and made a home. Many questioned our decision to venture out to a place we knew little, if anything, about.
Now mind you, this move didn’t happen without much anxiety. Would we be able to find employment? Could we afford to take big pay cuts and still live the good life? What about taking the kids out of the schools they had attended all their lives? All these things and more weighed on us in the months preceding the move.
Looking back, we made it through. Soon after arriving in our new home town, we found good jobs, our kids settled into their new schools, and we began to make friends. The one thing we still marvel over is how wonderful it is to live a simpler life. At the time we moved, our county had no stoplights and no traffic jams. It now has a stop light but the traffic jams have yet to materialize. A trip to the grocery store becomes a social outing as you cannot help but run into at least a few people you know. This never happened in our old hometown. All in all, it was the best move we ever made.
Along the lines of my good life story, Allstate’s “Good Hands for the Good Life” campaign is new and different for an insurance company. Allstate Good Life's message is one of optimism and celebration vs. fear. This Allstate brand commercial tells the story of how there are risks everywhere, but we as people don’t let it hold us back from making our lives good.
Allstate is an insurance company who works every day to help build more good in the lives of their customers.
Allstate believes the notion of the Good Life is inherently social; it is already taking place in people’s natural social conversations and now Allstate has permission to join in because they are an insurance company who creates more good vs. taking care of the bad.
Let us in on your “good life” stories by leaving a comment. We’d love to hear about the simple things which make life so good!
