Years ago, my New Years Resolution was to send out birthday cards to everyone. I did not want to miss any birthdays. So, I bought a calendar and made a note on it for every birthday. I bought a greeting card organizer box with the idea that I would buy cards in advance so I could send them out easily when the birthdays rolled around. But somehow as with most New Years Resolution I failed miserably.
I have given it some thought and tried to figure out why I still could not keep up with all the birthdays. What it really boiled down to was how expensive cards can be. So when I would go to the store to buy cards to fill the box I would end up spending a ton of money. At $3 – $5 a pop I would only buy a few cards at a time. I mean some months I would have 6 birthdays so we are talking $30 just for cards. It doesn’t seem like much but that is actually a big chunk of our monthly discretionary spending budget.
Thankfully, the folks at Hallmark get it and have created a line of Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents that are only available at Walmart. Wahoo! It is like they read my mind and are in my corner trying to help me stick to my resolution!
So birthday list in hand I headed to Walmart to buy the cards I need to fill up my greeting card organizer box for the next few months. It was a whole lot easier to only spend $4.70 on 10 cards instead of $40 or $50.
Now that I am all stocked up on birthday cards it will be so much easier to actually send them to all the people I love. Every birthday deserves a celebration and everyone deserves a reminder that someone is glad they were born and that they are special.
I am recommitting myself to sending out cards this year and I am sure I can do it with the help of Hallmark Cards starting at 47 cents. Are you someone who needs help remembering to send birthday cards to everyone? How do you do it? Please share your tips with me.
