Ground Venison Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 small bellpepper chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb ground venison browned
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 2 8 oz or 1 15 oz. tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
Instructions
- The ground venison can be cooked in the microwave. Place meat in a microwave safe colander and the colander in a microwave safe pie plate. Do NOT overcook! As mentioned in Cooking Great Game Tips: Overcooked venison is tough and has a poor taste. The little bit of oil helps add not only flavor but moisture to the meat. Cook until slightly pink. Combine with all other ingredients in crock pot. Meat will continue to cook in the sauce. Fresh or frozen tomatoes make for a much better flavor! Cook on low overnight or high for 4-6 hours in a crock pot.
