Homemade Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats
Homemade Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats
Pumpkin for Dogs
Our sweet doggy loves his dog biscuits. He will do all sorts of tricks to get a treat. He can shake hands (paws), give high fives, sit, jump, lay down, fetch, and catch. With all these awesome tricks and subsequent rewards I sometimes worry about the nutritional value of his treats. Of course, we also have two little boys who love to give the dog treats all the time too.
Pumpkin Health Benefits for Dogs
Pumpkin helps with digestion in dogs. It is am excellent source of fiber and can also settle upset stomachs. It is good for treating both constipation and diarrhea. Pumpkin is also a good meal replacement if your dog needs to lose a few pounds. It will leave them feeling full. Dogs can safely eat pumpkin flesh and pumpkin seeds both cooked and raw. We have made the healthy dog treat recipe below with pumpkin and peanut butter for our pooch and he loves them!
Pumpkin and Peanut Butter Healthy Dog Treat Recipe
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon of peanut butter.
You will combine all items above and make them into biscuit shapes. We also do circles. You will bake them for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and then you will add the wholes with a fork if you desire. Then we flip them over to cook them fully. I leave them out on wax paper until they are cool. This will make about 50 biscuit shapes depending on your cookie cutter.
