When I think of sports and parties I think of burgers, hot dogs, and ribs, and these burgers are perfect for when you are looking for a great game day meal, without burning through your calorie budget for the day. This is a classic example of changing a few ingredients in the recipe, and coming out with a meal that is just as good as the original, with less calories! Here is the super easy recipe to make these Low Calorie Easy Turkey Burgers Sliders (with a special sauce!)
Ingredients:
For the burgers:
1 lb ground turkey
1 onion, grated
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
1 egg
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1 tsp cumin
salt and pepper to taste
1 pack buns. (I used whole wheat buns)
For the sauce:
3/4 cup reduced fat mayo
1 1/2 tablespoon chopped green onions
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon OJ
1 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger
Combine all ingredients for sauce in a bowl and mix, set in the fridge to chill.
Combine turkey meat, onions, green onions, panko, cumin, s&p and egg in a bowl and mix until combined well. (I used my hands for this part)
Mold the mixture into small patties. (slightly bigger than your bun because they will shrink a bit when cooking)
Grill the patties on Med-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked completely through.
Optional step, split your buns open and butter them slightly, stick them in the oven for about 3 minutes.
Add your burger, sauce, and any other fixings and enjoy!
This Low Calorie Easy Turkey Burgers Slider Recipe was super easy to make, and didn’t take long at all! You can have a great spring/summer recipe in about 30 minutes. and 318 calories per serving (2 burgers). Even my 5 year old loved this recipe despite the added veggies in the burger! The great thing about adding the onions to the burger mix is that turkey meat tends to get a little dry when cooking, but the onions make it nice and moist.
