Make Your Own Baby Blanket
Make Your Own Baby Blanket
Looking for a great gift to get an expecting mother? Why not make your own? This Make Your Own Baby Blanket is easy to make, and doesn’t take to long! It would make a great gift for a soon-to-be-mom (or dad!) or to make for your own baby! I chose a “boy” and “girl” color pallet for a friend who doesn’t know what she is having. You could do your Make Your Own Baby Blanket project in the theme for the baby, or in a certain color you know the recipient will love, I do suggest using at least 1 pattern on either side of the blanket.
Here is what you will need to make this Make Your Own Baby Blanket Project:
- 2 yards of fabric (1 yard for each side, make sure they look good together!) If you wanted to make a larger size blanket, 2 yards of each fabric would be enough
- Scissors
- A ruler
- Marker (This is optional, I jut found it easier to mark where I needed to cut)
Yep, that’s all you need!
Here is how to make this Make Your Own Baby Blanket:
Step 1: First wash and dry your fabric. Cut off the design edge (this is the edge that has writing on it that helps you determine the “pretty side” and the “dull side”. Once you cut that off you will put the fabric pieces together “dull sides” together. On each corner take your ruler and measure out a 4×4 square and cut them out.
Step 2: Starting at the corner of your cut out square, cut strips that are 1″ wide and 5″ tall. Do this all the way around. I used a marker to mark where I needed to cut, and then went back around and cut my strips.
Step 3: After you have cut all your strips, you will match up the top and bottom strip and tie them together. I suggest a double knot for extra hold. You will do this all the way around.
Step 4: Stretch the sides of the blanket out and fluff out your blanket and you are done! Yes, it really is that easy!
