Got worries? Feed them to Flamm one of the Worry Eaters!
Disclosure: We happily gave Flamm a new home to facilitate this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are mine.
As parents we expect to have to endure sleep deprivation when we have newborns who do not sleep through the night. We stumble through our days soaking up smiles and coos and waiting for our next chance to catch a few winks. Then comes that glorious day when your baby sleeps through the night and you wake up and pinch yourself hardly believing you got more than a few hours of sleep. If all goes well then you have a year or two during which the little angels sleep well in their cribs. Then comes the switch to the toddler bed. This can be a bit tricky especially since your child can now get out of bed and come to you with every little worry, fear, and concern, not to mention requests for more bedtime stories or one more sip of water. As parents, we must be firm and keep sending the little darlings back to bed because we know how important sleep is for brain development and healthy growth and let’s face it no one wants to deal with a day full of the grumpy grapes. Among the repeated requests for water or more snuggles, occasionally our children bring us genuine worries and concerns that are keeping them from falling asleep.
A few months back my 4 yr old developed a sudden fear of spiders crawling in his bed after he saw one crawling on the ceiling. I quickly grabbed some spider spray aka air freshener that was guaranteed to keep the spiders away. Sometimes their worries, however, are not so tangible and easy to deal with. Sometimes they are worried and it is hard as a parent to figure out how to comfort them and ease their fears so that everyone can get some sleep. No worries, mom and dad, Flamm, the Worry Eater has arrived to help. Meet Flamm:
Got worries? Feed them to Flamm the Worry Eater!
Flamm is soft and huggable and quickly made friends with my son. Flamm also eats worries. You see his mouth is a zipper and when your kids get worried or scared in the middle of the night or any time really, they can write their worries on a piece of paper and give it to Flamm. He chews up the worry, you zip up his mouth and your child’s worries disappear. He will eat up all their worries so they do not have to worry about them anymore. We recently took Flamm on a weekend getaway. Sometimes when we are not sleeping in familiar surroundings it can cause worry and concern for our littles. I printed out some special notes where we could write in my son’s worries to feed to Flamm, Flamm had a midnight snack and after that my son slept through. In fact, he slept so well he was up and about playing before I could wake and capture a picture. This is what it looks like when your kid hops out of bed well rested and worry free.
Flamm has quickly found his place among the frogs and dinosaurs and now sleeps with my son every night. I keep a stack of notes on my nightstand should I hear the pitter patter of tiny feet coming to bring me their worries. I jot them down and help feed them to Flamm and soon everyone is catching more zzzzzs.
