Easy Ideas for a Great Summer Cookout
Fire up that grill, make it sizzle and pour you a glass and cheers to a new season. Our family has some great German recipes thanks to my mother-in-law living in Germany. She has passed on her recipe of an amazing German potato salad which is a staple for any cookout! It is easier than you think too! Just keep it simple, but use quality ingredients like Smithfield® Yuengling® Bratwurst which is brought to you by Smithfield® Craft Collection™.
Smithfield Yuengling Brats are made with premium cuts of pork and special blends of sweet and savory spices to make the best bratwurst. I also love that they do not have MSG in their brats. While, my husband appreciates that they carry brats that are infused with his favorite beer. Yuengling Lager beer is rich in amber color with a roasted caramel malt for sweetness and pairs well with grilled foods, so why not put it in a brat. It is the perfect match!
Making the perfect bratwurst isn’t complicated when you have the right bratwurst, so for that perfect summer cookout, head over to your local Kroger, or Kroger banner store including Ralph’s, Dillions, or Baker’s, and grab your Smithfielld Yuengling Bratwurst, fire your grill and enjoy! What’s better than a great brat? A Smithfielld Yuengling Bratwurst that is on sale. Grab this coupon and save $1.00 when you purchase ONE (1) Smithfield® Yuengling® Bratwurst, 19 oz. I got mine from Kroger in Charlottesville. You are buying fresh meat packed with quality and flavor, and I promise you will be able to tell when you take a bite. After you have picked up your brats at Kroger, go ahead and pick up some brat buns and sauerkraut.
Here’s how to make the perfect brat
1. Preheat your grill on medium-high heat and let it preheat for about 10 minutes.
2. Once heated, place your Smithfield Yuengling Bratwurst on the grill and cook for about 10 minutes, then flip over and cook for another 10 minutes.
3. Remove from the grill add to a bun and add some sauerkraut, some onions or mustard, if you want, and enjoy.
If you want to save on carbs and calories, which most of us do while we are in beach mode, you can go bunless. Just have brats, onions, and sauerkraut. You can still enjoy great flavors with a healthier twist!
Now to me, a cookout with brats isn’t a cookout without a good potato salad. Our family treasures our German family recipes, but today I want to share one with all of you so you can enjoy it as well. Nana’s German potato salad recipe seems simple and classic, but it is incredible!
