This is an easy, crowd pleasing recipe that your friends and family will be asking for again and again! I love easy recipes for the holidays, and the prep time for this recipe only takes about 15 minuets!
Here is how to make my Bacon Wrapped Smokies with Brown Sugar
Ingredients:
1 pack lil smokies
1 pound of bacon
2 cups Brown sugar
1 stick of butter
1. First, preheat your oven to 375F (190°C)
2. Prepare you smokies: If your cocktail sausages are not pre-cooked, you may want to cook them partially before wrapping with bacon. You can either boil them for a few minutes or cook them in a skillet until they are no longer pink. This ensures they cook evenly with the bacon.
3. Cut each slice of bacon into thirds. This will make it the right size to wrap around the smokies.
4. Take each cocktail sausage and wrap a piece of bacon around it. Secure the bacon with a toothpick, making sure it goes through both ends of the bacon to hold it in place.
5. On the stove melt your butter in a saucepan, and add your brown sugar.
6. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture into a shallow dish. Roll each bacon-wrapped smokie in the brown sugar, ensuring it’s evenly coated. You can press the brown sugar onto the bacon to make it stick.
7. Arrange the bacon-wrapped smokies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Make sure to leave some space between each smokie to allow for even cooking.
8. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the brown sugar has caramelized.
9. If you want to ensure even cooking, you can turn the bacon-wrapped smokies halfway through the baking time.
10. Allow the bacon-wrapped smokies to cool slightly before serving. The brown sugar will have created a sweet and savory caramelized coating on the bacon.
11. Consider serving these delightful bites with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as barbecue sauce or a spicy mustard.
Serve hot, and watch them disappear!
These delicious bites are sure to be a hit at any party or gathering. The combination of smoky, salty bacon with the sweetness of brown sugar creates a flavor explosion that’s hard to resist!
