Crafting with Kids: Use What Mother Nature Gives Us

Mother Nature gives us so many beautiful things why not use them to their fullest advantage? Most kids learn best by exploring without limits (within reason of course). I bet you are thinking “that is great and all but, what does that have to do with doing crafts with my kids?”.  There are so many things you can do with your kids while just being outside.

What can we do?

Rain or shine there are many things you can do with your kids outside.

SUNNY DAY

When the sun is shining, many kids will be seen riding bikes or playing basketball. We do these things too but, one of our favorite things to do is go on scavenger hunt walks around the neighborhood. These walks do not have to be limited to your neighborhood. You can take your kids out to local parks and hiking trails and do it too.  Here are some free printables for a Toddler’s Nature Scavenger Hunt  and a Kid’s Nature Scavenger Hunt.

Another fun one is to trace your kids shadow with sidewalk chalk and have them design it. If their shadow isn’t something they want to do they can trace a toy’s shadow instead.

We enjoy doing so many things on sunny days but, these are a few of our favorites.

RAINY DAYS

Rainy days are known as inside lazy days for most people. While some days truly are better when enjoyed inside, we take full advantage of the warmer rainy days and head outside.

We run in the rain, catch rain drops on our tongues and my kids personal favorite: jump in the muddy puddles. Yes, you read that right: we search out muddy puddles to jump in. Plain puddles are okay but, the muddy ones are the best!

Have fun and enjoy the beautiful weather!!
