DIY Bed Canopy

If you are looking for a fun craft to do for your kids room, then this DIY Bed Canopy would be perfect! This DIY Bed Canopy took about 20 minuets to make and costed me $10. (Make sure you print out a coupon for your local craft store! My little girl loved helping me with this project, and was able to pick out the tulle color she wanted, and the feathers! The best part of making it yourself is that you can customize it to fit any theme!

Here is what you will need to make a DIY Bed Canopy:

  • 4 yards of tulle (This was made for a standard 8 foot ceiling, if yours is higher you will have to get additional tulle)
  • A sewing ring. I used the largest one my craft store had available.
  • A feather boa in a coordinating color to your tulle
  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • A needle and thread
  • scissors

Here is how to make this DIY Bed Canopy:

Step 1: First, spread your tulle out and lay it over your sewing ring, pull your tulle through until the ends match up. (Meaning you will have a double layer of tulle)

Step 2: Using a hair band (or rubberband) tie the end of your tulle together. This will help you when you are sewing the top so it won’t be in your way

Step 3: Make sure to leave a gap for the opening of your canopy and begin sewing the tulle to your sewing ring. Sew all the way around to the other side and secure your stitch. You could also do this with a sewing machine to save time.

Step 4: Using the outside ring of your sewing ring use some ribbon and tie to pieces that cross. This will be how you hang up your canopy.

Step 5: Secure the 2 rings together. Using your hot glue gun, glue your feather boa all the way around the ring.
