Supplies Needed for Bowtie Onesies

Short or Long Sleeve White Onesies (various sizes)

Old Ties (Grandpas’,Dad’s and Uncle’s old ties are perfect for memories) or scraps of material

Large snaps or Velcro strips .

Needle and Thread

Scissors

Instructions for Bowtie Onesies

1. Cut 1 piece  7 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide.

2. Cut another piece 4 inches long by 3 inches wide.

3. Fold over 1/4 inch on all sides of both pieces and Iron

4. Fold the large piece in half with non-printed side on outside.

5. Start sewing around edges, leaving 1 inch in the middle of the tie (this is so you can turn the material right side out)

6. Turn Right side out and iron that side flat. Sew the opening shut.

7. To make the middle pleated, fold material like a fan and sew a few stitches in the middle.

8. Take the small piece and sew the same way you did the larger piece.

9. When both pieces are sewn, wrap the small piece around the middle of the larger piece (body of the bow tie) and sew to fit. Don’t worry about the appearance of the back of tie.

10. Sew on velcro or snaps to back of bowtie and on onesie.  As they grow you just need to sew velcro or snaps on new onesies and the bowtie will grow with them.

**Optional-If you want to sew the bowtie directly to the onesie you can but I would advise doing larger sizes because they grow so fast.**
