Hot Rods In A Water Bottle
Water Bottle Craft
This water bottle was running on empty and destined for a collision course with the recycle bin until I was inspired by reading a blog to change this bottle’s fate. It’s now gearing up to be used for invitations to our upcoming annual Pinewood Derby for the local Cub Scout Pack. Checkered flags, fast cars, and personalized pit passes will excite the boys and fuel the anticipation for this event.
Don’t worry if you are not a Scout, you could easily adapt this theme for a racecar birthday party or to encourage a motor enthusiast. Instead of a neckerchief, use a checkered flag and add stickers, tokens, and more. Anyone will smile when this bottle parks in their mailbox.
Here are some suggestions to “fill ‘er up”:
* A checkered neckerchief (cut from fabric) for the Scout to wear on the big day
* A car “slide” (hot glue a small pipe cleaner to the bottom to twist and hold the Scout’s neckerchief together)
* Small cars
* A pit pass ensuring access to all the fun
To make your own hot rod bottle, follow these directions:
First, clean and dry a clear bottle.
Next, fill the bottle with items. Use a pencil to push the items inside the bottle and arrange.
Place the cap on and seal tight.
Write an address label and attach securely with clear tape to the outside of the bottle.
Finally, mail it at the Post Office. Weigh them to ensure you have enough postage.
