Easy Grilled Ribs Recipe
I recently had the opportunity to review a Rec Tec Grills and the first meal we cooked on it included this Delicious Barbecue Ribs Recipe. My daughter (10 years old) was involved in the whole process from start to finish. She even took responsibility for helping create and record the marinade recipe. She was very excited as this was the first time she played such a major role in a recipe. She even learned to step out of the box and try new spices she wouldn’t normally use. Not only was her marinade amazing the Rec Tec Grill made this Kids BBQ Recipes a hit for everyone at the BBQ there was barely a bite left when the meal was over.

Get Ready to Grill!
Whether you’re a seasoned grill master or a newbie at the barbecue, these fun and practical grilling tips will help you take your cookout to the next level.
Barbecue Grilling Tips for a Perfect Cookout
1. Prep Like a Pro
The secret to great grilling starts before you even light the coals.
Tips:
- Marinate Ahead: Marinate your meats the night before to let the flavors really soak in. Use a mix of oil, acid (like lemon juice or vinegar), herbs, and spices.
- Bring to Room Temp: Take the meat out of the fridge about 30 minutes before grilling. This ensures even cooking.
- Prep Your Grill: Clean your grill grates before and after each use. A wire brush works wonders for this. Then, oil the grates lightly to prevent sticking.
2. Master the Heat Zones
Understanding your grill’s heat zones is crucial for perfect grilling.
Tips:
- Direct vs. Indirect Heat: Create a two-zone setup: one side for high, direct heat and the other for lower, indirect heat. This allows you to sear meats on high heat and then move them to the cooler side to cook through without burning.
- Lid On or Off: Keep the lid closed for thicker cuts of meat and bone-in pieces to ensure even cooking. For thinner cuts, burgers, and hot dogs, you can leave the lid open to monitor them more closely.
3. Perfect Your Timing
Timing is everything when it comes to grilling.
Tips:
- Use a Meat Thermometer: This is your best friend for ensuring perfectly cooked meat. Here are some basic internal temperatures: 145°F for beef and pork, 165°F for poultry, and 145°F for fish.
- Rest Your Meat: Allow grilled meats to rest for about 5-10 minutes after cooking. This helps the juices redistribute, making the meat more flavorful and juicy.
4. Get Creative with Flavor
Add some excitement to your grilling with creative flavor boosters.
Tips:
- Smoke It Up: Add wood chips to your grill for a smoky flavor. Soak them in water for about 30 minutes, then place them on the coals or in a smoker box.
- Baste and Glaze: Brush your meats with a delicious glaze or sauce during the last few minutes of cooking. Try a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, a honey mustard glaze, or a spicy sriracha mix.
- Herbs and Citrus: Toss some fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme onto the coals for an aromatic boost. Grilling citrus fruits like lemons or oranges and using them in marinades or as a garnish can also add a fresh twist.
5. Don’t Forget the Veggies
Grilled vegetables are a delicious and healthy addition to any barbecue.
Tips:
- Grill-Friendly Veggies: Some great options are bell peppers, zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, and corn on the cob. Cut them into large pieces or use a grill basket to prevent them from falling through the grates.
- Season Simply: Drizzle veggies with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs. Grill until tender and slightly charred.
- Fruit on the Grill: Don’t overlook fruit! Pineapple, peaches, and watermelon are fantastic when grilled. The heat caramelizes their natural sugars, making them extra sweet and tasty.
6. Safety First
Keep safety in mind to ensure a fun and worry-free barbecue.
Tips:
- Keep a Spray Bottle Handy: Fill it with water to manage flare-ups without dousing the coals.
- Long-Handled Tools: Use long-handled tongs, spatulas, and basting brushes to keep your hands away from the heat.
- Stay Clean: Avoid cross-contamination by using separate plates and utensils for raw and cooked foods. Always wash your hands after handling raw meat.
