Memories

This series on how to make the most out of the time you have with your children is brought to you by Amee at Madame Deals and Sharon at Mom on Dealz.

A memory is a fleeting moment that one hopes to catch quickly. This week has been both bitter and sweet. This week held a day that we are reminded of the babies and children we have lost. You see as parents we often try to remind ourselves of the happy times and we put on a brave face and tackle life. I enjoyed paying tribute to the child we lost. I lit my candle and I bought a cupcake. I ate more than one cupcake. They were the mini version. I celebrated the life of the baby that we never got to meet. I allowed myself to wonder what if. I let myself think of that little gift that we never fully received and then I enjoyed my cupcake. I believe that even sad memories are good memories. They ground us, inspire us, and challenge us to be better people then we are. I had cupcakes left I know surprisingly since I tend to eat a lot when I am sad.

The next day when my children came home from school they asked for a cupcake. I didn’t tell them why we had cupcakes. I sat down at the table and I pulled out a candle. I lit the candle and my children blew it out. They inquired as to what we were celebrating and I said, “Life.” Life isn’t something you can control and it isn’t something you should take for granted. I extend a hug to all the parents who know great loss.
