Fourth of July American Flag Pallet Project

Can you believe it’s almost July!? It seems like this year has just flown by! It has been a pretty awesome summer so far, my little girl graduated Kindergarten and participated in her first Dance Recital! For 4th of July this year I will be taking her on her first plane ride as well! We will be heading to Dallas to spend some time visiting with my family and doing some skydiving (and no, I will not be letting my 6 year old skydive LOL).

Fourth of July American Flag Pallet Project

My husband comes from a military family so 4th of July is a big holiday in our house and I wanted to do a fun craft to celebrate the holiday, that is when I thought of doing a pallet project! Pallet Projects are great because you can (usually) get pallets for free from any store that uses them. Make sure you call ahead to make sure they have some. I got mine from my moms work. (Warehouses are another great place to look for pallets) I wanted to add a personal touch to my pallet project by making an american flag and using my little girls hands as the stars! This now sits proudly in our front yard. 🙂 Would you like to learn how to make one? Awesome!

Here is what you will need to make this Pallet Projects American Flag

Here is how to make this Pallet Projects American Flag

Step 1: First make sure to clean off your pallet (since they are usually on the ground they might have spider webs and whatnot on them). After it is cleaned use your pen and mark where you want the blue part of your flag to be.

Step 2: Using your sponge (1 for each color) fill in your blue area first. Then starting with red on the top paint each board on your pallet either red or white. (You know what the flag looks like LOL)

Step 3: Let your board dry at least 2 hours before painting your stars on!

Step 4: Using your white paint paint your childs hand and have them make “stars” in the blue area of your flag! (Also, yes those are Nightmare Before Christmas Pj pants in the corner there LOL!)

Tada! After painting on your “stars” let it dry and display it proudly to show your American Flag no matter what time of year it is!
