St Patricks Day Centerpiece Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow
St Patricks Day Centerpiece
I am a Mother and everything I do seems to revolve around my little girls and my Son. My oldest daughter’s birthday is March 17, 2013 and I always try to do something special for her and this year I am getting her and the 4 year old help me make a center piece for her party!
The step by step instructions for St Patricks Day Centerpiece are as follows:
Materials we used
- 1 bag of mini snickers (Gold wrappers)
- 1 bag of kisses with almonds
- 1 bag of Rolos
- 1 bag of skittles
- Shamrock garland
- Styrofoam
- Vase
- Hershey bars
- Other candies for bouquet
- Shish kabob skewers
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
First we cleaned the vase and allowed it to dry. Then I had the girls to take some of the snickers, rolos, and kisses and place them in the bottom of the vase. Once we had what we thought was enough to make the pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow we then opened the bag of skittles and dumped them in! Because the vase was a bit much bigger than I thought it was we had plenty of room left at the top so I used the garland to fill in the top. You could also use marshmallows here to make clouds but we opted not too because we were making a bouquet as the final piece. Next I cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit in the top of the vase to securely hold my skewers in place, Lesson learned I should have painted it to blend in with the center piece but I did not on this one. Now comes the part that an adult or older child will need to do. Take your Hershey candy bars and open the flap in the back, place a small bead of hot glue and then stick your skewers in place. Once you have the candy bar in place you can add a small dot of glue onto the flap to hold the flap closed. Once you have this you can start to fill in your center piece. I allowed my 8 year old to do this part with my supervision because the skewers have an extremely sharp point on one end. Once she had the candy in like she wanted it, we took the remainder garland and pulled it through the center piece to give it filler!
Above is a photo of my 8 year old holding her centerpiece that we will use at her party and then she gets to enjoy the treats and share with her friends.
