St Patricks Day Centerpiece Sweet Pot of Gold

St Patricks Day Centerpiece

My usual bonding time with my 6 year old son usually involves running around, playing basketball or other sports but this week I decided to do something different just like doing some craft for St Patricks Day. I asked him and he said that he loves coloring, balloons and sweets so we decided to combine it all together and make a St Patricks Day Centerpiece.

Materials:

  • Papers in white, green, black and yellow colors.
  • Sticks
  • Balloons
  • Ribbons
  • Chocolate Gold Coins
  • Green Candies/Sweets
  • Small Container

You can use any small container for this project. If you don’t have a green one, you can just wrap the outside part with a green colored paper. For this project, my son own a small green sand pail so we decided to use it.

Tie a black ribbon (black paper will also do) around the container. Add a small square yellow paper with cut out square inside to serve as a buckle design. The container will look like it has a leprechaun’s belt.

Draw a rainbow on a white paper. I traced the rainbow and then asked my son to add the colors. This is a great way to teach your little ones the colors of the rainbow.

Cut out the rainbow and glue a stick at the back.

Place several paper linings inside your container. In my project I lined it with black and green paper. Then I placed some crumpled black paper inside.

Add the rainbow.

Add balloons on a stick. I decorated it with some curled ribbons.

Place the chocolate gold coins inside.

Draw and cut out some shamrocks and leprechaun’s hat.  Then place a stick at the back of each. It will look nicer if you’re going to make them in different sizes.

Also, you can cut the sticks in different lengths so when you place them in the container your designs are of different heights. This makes it look more interesting.

Of course, to make the centerpiece sweet, don’t forget the treats. Place your sweets on a stick.

And you’re done!
