For those that have read my articles before, you know how important saving money is to me. I am all about being frugal and cutting corners where I can while still living comfortably. So when I hear about a frugal tip I just have to share them with you! Have you ever heard of using coffee filters instead of paper towels?  I know it sounds crazy, but it totally works AND saves money!Q I have mentioned previously how we have gone to cloth napkins and mostly cloth towels. On occasion, I use paper towels for really yucky stuff. I am glad to know I have a cheaper option! Let’s check out some ways you can use coffee filters instead of paper towels!

Better than paper towels…

Coffee filters …. Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing – even the large ones. Score!

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers that keep your food from splashing up while warming.

2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome… Coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll leave windows sparkling.

3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish. This can also be used when moving.

4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter!

5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.

6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter and it works great for shining those.

7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter. Oil can be used until it’s black!

8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.

9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods. This is a great way to help messy kids.
