Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust Recipe

Apple pie has been one f my family’s favorite dessert and snack lately. It’s our go to comfort food, it’s delicious, healthy, easy to make and everyone loves it. But lately, I want to spice things up by adding some new twists to our recipe and one of the big hit is my Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust!

Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust Recipe

Ingredients:

Crust

  • 2 ½ cups all- purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of sea salt
  • 2 stick of cold butter
  • ¾ cup of Kraft Shredded Cheese: mild cheddar
  • ¾ cup of Kraft Shredded Cheese: sharp cheddar

Apple pie filling

  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 lb of golden delicious apples
  • 1 lb of granny smith apples
  • zest of one lemon
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter

1 beaten eggs for brushing

Instructions:

Make the Crust:

1. Combine the flour, sea salt, cold butter (cut it into fourths), and the cheese. In the food processor combine the ingredient with cold water approx. 3 or 4 tbs

2. Divide the mixture in half. You will need half for the crust and half for the top of the pie.

3. Spray the pie pan with cooking spray.

4. Then place half of the crust mixture on the bottom of the pie pan.

Next create the Apple Pie filling:

1. You will next need to peel, cut, and core the apples.

2. Then place them in the pie pan in a layered formation.

3. Next add the zest of lemon to the apples,

4. Then add a pinch of salt.

5. Then I sprinkle the 1/3 cup of sugar over the apples.

6. Finally, slice the Tablespoon of butter on top of the apple slice.

Next Steps: 

Then you will need to cover the apples with the remaining cheddar cheese crust.

I slice four notches in my pie. Then I place it in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. You can brush the pie with an egg if you wish. I didn’t do that to mine I used a little butter since my children are allergic to egg.
