Every afternoon, I sink into my couch. I close my eyes, and I wonder what I have to do next? My living room floor looked like a camp dorm filled with random bags, shoes, and other people’s clutter. I deciphered that I needed a plan of attack.
I called my kids downstairs. I wrote a list full of chores and expectations. I set the timer, and I began scrolling through the Internet while they found the floor, counters, and the rest of the flat spaces that they covered in the remnants of their experiences.
I knew that was the moment that I needed to practice mindfulness.
I told my kids that would be in the dining room working on my summer learning goal to be more mindful in my actions and they asked if it is like when I say, “Mind your own business!”
Mindfulness is being aware of what is going on by paying attention and acting with a purpose in the present moment without judgment.
It is actually something you have to practice since we spend so much of our time thinking about what happened in the past and what will happen in the future, we often overlook the present.
I decided I wanted to be present. I was going to practice being in the moment by taking part in a mindful eating practice.
What is that?
It is when you really taste, savor, and enjoy your food. You only pay attention to what you are eating. You focus on the texture, smells, taste, and sensation of what you are eating. It is hard at first, but if you have the right food choice, it is easier.
I chose these Blue Diamond Almonds & Fruit varieties since they are easily accessible at Walmart, and their flavorful combinations are perfect for mindful eating.
The Almonds & Fruit Sea Salt & Whole Blueberry is sweet and salty, which allows you to savor your bite as it moves from sweet to salty.
The Almonds & Fruit Fiery Ghost Pepper & Tart Cherry are also made using California Almonds, and these are packed full of intensely satisfying flavors.
Once I savored the Almonds & Fruit varieties packed with robust flavors. I knew they were meant for the most sophisticated palates and I knew they would be the treats that I would serve at Book Club.
I know not everyone is actively practicing mindfulness but the Almonds & Fruit are such incredible collisions of flavors that they will force even the fastest eater to slow down and savor each flavor as it soulfully moves across their palate.
I want to remind you to make the choice to delight your senses by relishing in the Almonds & Fruit combination that turns even the most mundane day into an extraordinary one.
