How to Exfoliate with Sugar
Taking care of your skin is so important for many reason. When it comes to finding the perfect skin care regimen it seems like you either know what you are doing or, it’s a bit difficult. If you are anything like me, it can even feel next to impossible to find just the perfect combination of products. Either something isn’t working or, I completely miss something which means that one or all my products aren’t working to their full potential. One thing I learned that I was missing in my routine was exfoliation. Sugar scrubs are the perfect way to exfoliate your skin.
How to Exfoliate with Sugar
What is exfoliation?
Exfoliation helps to gently remove dead skin cells, dirt and oil from your skin. This can be done by chemical or, mechanical means.
Why is exfoliation important?
Moisturizers tend to sit on the top of our skin not doing too much because they are blocked out by dead skin cells and dirt. Your moisturizer will become more effective when it is no longer blocked out by the dead skin cells and dirt that are removed when you exfoliate your skin. They are able to get into the deeper layers of your skin thus, working more effectively.
Not only does it help the moisturizers work better but, when used as a regular part of your skin regimen, exfoliation has been shown to leave you with healthier, younger looking skin.
What does sugar scrub have to do with exfoliation?
When sugar scrubs are applied to the skin, the coarseness of the sugar helps to gently remove the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of your skin. With very little effort, and no pain, you can easily remove the dirt and dead skin cells from your skin.
Personally, I feel that using exfoliating with sugar is a more gentle, and natural approach than getting it done with chemicals.
How often do I need to exfoliate?
Exfoliation needs to be a pretty frequent part of your skin care regimen. Exactly how frequently it needs to be done varies person to person.
For some twice a week is perfect, for others, twice a week is too much, and yet, for many others: twice a week isn’t enough. It really just takes trial and error to see how frequently your skin needs it. Start by doing once a week and adjust from there depending on how your skin looks or feels.
Tips for exfoliating with sugar
When applying sugar scrub, use a gentle circular motion as that helps to eliminate the dead skin cells.
As with any other body or face wash and scrub be sure to stay clear of your eyes. Some people are sensitive to citrus oils when the are using it on their face so, if you are going to make a citrus scrub be sure to only use a couple of drops of your oil or, skip it all together just to be sure.
