How to Make a Candlestick Picture Frame

DIY candlestick picture frame

Now that school is back in session, I have some time to myself during the day to do, well, whatever I want to do. One of my favorite things to do when I have some time alone is crafts!  I make things for around my house, DIY organization items, stuff I know my kid will love, and my personal favorite, gifts!

I love making homemade gifts for family and friends for the holidays.  By getting a jump start on those gifts, rather than waiting until the last minute and scrambling around to get everything done, I save myself a great deal of stress.  So this week while my kids were at school, I decided to try out a new gift idea, a How to Make a Candlestick Picture Frame. It only costs $2 to make and turned out pretty cute if you ask me! Would you like to learn how to make it? Let’s go!

Here is how to make this How to Make a Candlestick Picture Frame:

You Will Need:

  • Glass Candlestick (I grabbed mine from Dollar Tree)
  • 4×6 Picture Frame (Again, Dollar Tree!)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Brush

Instructions

Step 1: Start by gluing your picture frame to your candle stick.  Be sure to glue it as close to the front of the candle stick as possible. Because there is more surface area to glue there, it will make it more stable. Make sure you let it dry completely before trying to move it.

Step 2: Now it’s time to get a little fancy by adding some glitter! You will start with a layer of mod podge on the candlestick.

Step 3: Ready for the glitter? While the mod podge is still wet, pour glitter over the candlestick. Choose one color or mix it up and use a few.  The excess glitter will fall off as you turn the candlestick to glitter the other side.

Step 4: After you have put your glitter on the whole candle stick, carefully brush on another layer of mod podge.  This will help seal the glitter and give it a nice smooth appearance. Stick an awesome picture (like the one I used of my husband skydiving) in the frame, and you have a fun and unique Candlestick Picture Frame!

Tada! How easy and cool was that right?
