10 Easy Easter Crafts for Kids with Step-by-Step Instructions

Beyond the Easter egg hunts and candy baskets, this holiday is the perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy some good old-fashioned crafting fun with your kids. Whether you’re a mom looking for screen-free activities, a teacher planning a festive classroom project, or simply someone who loves adding a homemade touch to the season, these Easter crafts are not only adorable but also incredibly easy to make. Each project has step-by-step instructions and uses materials you probably already have at home. So, roll up those sleeves, spread out some newspaper, and let the creativity (and glitter) flow!

1. Fluffy Cotton Ball Bunny

What’s Easter without a cuddly bunny craft? This simple project brings an adorable bunny to life with soft, fluffy cotton balls.

Materials:

  • White paper plate
  • Cotton balls
  • Googly eyes
  • Pink pom-pom or button for the nose
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Construction paper (for ears and teeth)

Instructions:

  1. Cover the front of a paper plate with glue and stick cotton balls all over until the entire surface is fluffy and white.
  2. Glue on googly eyes and a pink pom-pom nose in the center.
  3. Draw a cute bunny smile with a black marker.
  4. Cut out two ear shapes from pink and white construction paper, layer them, and glue to the top of the plate.
  5. For the final touch, add two small rectangles of white paper as buck teeth just below the nose. Instant bunny magic!

2. Paper Strip Easter Eggs

Bright, patterned, and easy for little hands, these paper strip eggs make wonderful window decorations or cards.

Materials:

  • Colored or patterned paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • White cardstock
  • Pencil

Instructions:

  1. Draw a large egg shape on white cardstock and cut it out.
  2. Cut different colored papers into strips (around 1 inch wide).
  3. Let kids glue the strips across the egg shape in any pattern they like—horizontal, vertical, even diagonal!
  4. Once dry, trim off the excess paper hanging over the edge.
  5. Hang it up or glue to a folded card for a festive greeting.

3. Bunny Ear Headbands

Let your little ones hop around like real Easter bunnies with these cute DIY headbands!

Materials:

  • White and pink construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Stapler or tape
  • Glue
  • Cotton ball (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut a strip of white paper long enough to wrap around your child’s head and staple or tape the ends to make a band.
  2. Cut out two large white bunny ears and two smaller pink inner ears.
  3. Glue the pink pieces inside the white ones and attach them to the top of the headband.
  4. For extra fun, glue a cotton ball to the back of the band for a fluffy tail!

4. Handprint Chick Card

This sweet card is perfect for grandparents and guaranteed to become a keepsake.

Materials:

  • Yellow paint
  • White cardstock
  • Orange and black markers
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Paintbrush

Instructions:

  1. Help your child paint one of their hands with yellow paint and press it onto the cardstock to make a handprint.
  2. Once dry, turn the handprint upside down—it’s now a fluffy chick!
  3. Add googly eyes near the thumb (the head), draw a beak and feet with the markers, and write a cute message inside.

5. Egg Carton Chicks

Turn a simple egg carton into a whole nest of chirpy chicks that kids will love crafting and playing with.

Materials:

  • Cardboard egg carton
  • Yellow paint
  • Orange and black markers or paper
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut two egg carton cups and glue them together to form a little sphere—this will be your chick’s body.
  2. Paint the whole thing yellow and let it dry.
  3. Glue on googly eyes and cut a tiny orange triangle for the beak.
  4. Use black marker to add details or wings if desired. Place them in a paper “nest” for added charm!

6. Popsicle Stick Easter Baskets

Mini baskets made from popsicle sticks are perfect for holding jelly beans or tiny treasures.

Materials:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Small paper cup or circular cardboard base
  • Paint (optional)
  • Ribbon or yarn

Instructions:

  1. Glue popsicle sticks vertically around the outside of a small paper cup or cardboard circle to form the basket.
  2. Paint the sticks in bright Easter colors.
  3. Cut a strip of ribbon or yarn and attach it to either side as the handle.
  4. Let it dry, then fill with goodies for a sweet surprise!

7. Easter Bunny Paper Puppets

These fun puppets are a great craft and toy in one—perfect for storytelling or puppet shows.

Materials:

  • White cardstock or construction paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Popsicle stick
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Draw a bunny shape on the cardstock and let your child color and decorate it.
  2. Cut it out and glue a popsicle stick to the back.
  3. Optional: Add movable ears by attaching them with brass fasteners.
  4. Use them for Easter plays, puppet shows, or just hopping around!

8. Jelly Bean Bracelet

Not only cute to wear, but also edible! These bracelets are a hit at Easter parties and make lovely homemade gifts.

Materials:

  • Jelly beans
  • Elastic thread or thin string
  • Needle (use plastic for safety with kids)
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of elastic thread long enough to wrap around a wrist with extra for tying.
  2. Thread a needle and carefully push it through each jelly bean, sliding them onto the thread.
  3. Once the bracelet is full, tie the ends in a knot and snip off any excess.
  4. Wear it proudly—or eat it up!

9. Coffee Filter Butterflies

These delicate, colorful butterflies make any Easter craft day feel like springtime heaven.

Materials:

  • Coffee filters
  • Washable markers
  • Spray bottle of water
  • Clothespins
  • Pipe cleaners

Instructions:

  1. Flatten the coffee filters and decorate them with washable markers.
  2. Lightly spray with water to blend the colors into a tie-dye effect. Let dry completely.
  3. Scrunch the middle of the filter and clip it with a clothespin.
  4. Wrap a pipe cleaner around the clothespin for antennae and you’ve got a fluttery friend!

10. Peek-a-Boo Easter Egg Cards

These interactive cards are not only fun to make but also fun to open and discover the surprise inside!

Materials:

  • Colored cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers
  • Stickers or printed animal pictures

Instructions:

  1. Fold a piece of cardstock in half and draw an egg shape on the front.
  2. Cut along the top of the egg shape, leaving a “hinge” so it opens like a lid.
  3. Inside the egg, glue a picture of a bunny, chick, or fun sticker.
  4. Decorate the outside with glitter, markers, and your favorite Easter designs.
