Super Bowl Preparation on a Budget – Easy Pesto Bread Recipe

baked cheesy pesto bread appetizer on a cookie sheet pinterestink appetizers. I know all of you football fans are rolling your eyes, but you have to have tasty food!

If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, keep your budget in mind. There are several appetizer type dishes you can make without spending a lot of money. If you are planning a full menu, plan a meal that easily feeds a crowd with little effort. My two favorite crowd pleasing meals are crock pot chili and pulled pork sandwiches. Both of those dishes are budget friendly.

Finger foods such as a meat and cheese platter are always a hit. To add a little football flair, use football shaped cookie cutters to cut out the cheese.  Alternatively, you could use a cookie cutter shape that represents your favorite team. A cheese ball  is easy to make and you can shape it into a football.

My mom makes a wonderful Pesto Bread appetizer. The ingredient measurements are not exact, but they don’t have to be for this recipe. Warning, they are addicting!

Pesto Bread

(1) Baguette, sliced into ½” to ¼” rounds
Cream Cheese
Prepared pesto
Provolone Cheese

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each baguette round.

Top with a dollop of pesto.

Top each slice of pesto bread with shredded mozzarella. Bake for 10 minutes.

Hosting a party can be done without over spending. Start by planning your menu now. Look over your store circulars this week and plan to make dishes that compliment the sales and your stockpile.
