Where to Stay in Mississippi

Great places to stay in Mississippi

The Guest House in Natchez is located in the heart of historic downtown Natchez. It has been dubbed one of the Most Romantic Inns in the South. I can see why as you walk into the courtyard you are greeted with calm. You notice gowns of the most mannerly of Southern Bells and you are immediately back to your dreams of being Scarlett O’Hara. You walk up the staircase and are immediately and graciously asked, ” How can I help you?” You are offered a cookie and shown to your suite. The Guest House was built around 1840, it is a 12,000 square foot antebellum mansion furnished with period antiques and houses 16 unique guest rooms.

You are shown your room in all its grandeur. You imagine what it must have been like to live in a mansion. You are greeted by the charm of the south and all the modern conveniences you would expect like heat after you get out the shower. There were plenty of places to store your clothes, rest and relax. The beds were comfortable. The room wasn’t my favorite part.

I would say my favorite parts were the sweeping porches. It was nice to grab my favorite novel and rock on one of them. I also thought about having a beverage in a peaceful courtyard. The Guest House was located near everything which made walking around this charming town a pleasure.

We also had breakfast at Guest House. There were plenty of choices and they were displayed on a card on a table. You requested what you wanted and breakfast was provided promptly. The stay at the hotel included the breakfast which was a nice treat.

We were each able to get what we wanted from eggs, cereal, fresh fruit, to an assortment of meats. The breakfast filled us up.

We always stay at the Marriott because of the cleanliness of the rooms, proximity to where we want to spend our time, and the staff’s willingness to provide exceptional service.

This Courtyard by Marriot Gulfport was no exception. The room was perfectly clean. The location was right across from the beach. If you weren’t interested in the beach there was a pool for you to lounge at. There was also an incredible restaurant tucked in right next to the hotel if you were in the mood for upscale dining. If you weren’t there were tasty treats available right in the lobby of the hotel.

This hotel was in the perfect location to explore the Secret Coast of Mississippi and I can tell you it is a secret worth sharing.

The Hilton in Jackson was a throwback to elegant charm. The hotel featured an upgraded pool space, ample rooms, and excellent service. They had all the amenities that you need, and it is located close to everything. It is only a short drive to all of the locations on our travel plan. The water was hot, which is imperative for me. The beds were dream-worthy. The staff was incredibly welcoming. I can’t put my finger on the decor. It was a nostalgic elegance. You really feel important upon entrance and throughout your stay.

The Inn at Ole Miss was built with love from its humble beginnings as bed and breakfast. It was once called The Alumni House it was created to bring Ole Miss Alumni together so they can talk about memories of the past or paint new ones with their families. It was a stroke of genius how they had some of the guest sponsor room, and they would use their rooms or lend them to a friend. They were also able to rent their rooms. This model served The Alumni House well. It provided a foundation for how they would expand in the future.

The name was changed to the Inn at Ole Miss and it now has eight floors and 127 guest rooms but the charm is still there. The rooms are still named with Alumni of the past, and their pictures still decorated the halls. The Inn is a short 16-minute walk to the center of the square. They also have a complimentary driver that can take you to and from town at your leisure. It is a place to rest your head in a timeless suite. The rooms were perfect for families, both large and small. The price was more than affordable, and the experience was effortless.
